Fortnite : Reportedly Reaches 100 Million Downloads on Apple App Store !
100 Million Times
DMobile version of Fortnite: Battle Royale has been downloaded over 100 million times on iOS devices since its launch last April.
According to a report by data analyst Apptopia, Fortnite: Battle Royale reached the milestone in 138 days through Apple’s app store alone, faster than Supercell’s Clash Royale at 607 days and projected to beat the mobile version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds at 344 days. The only other two apps the game did not beat were Nintendo properties Super Mario Run and Pokemon Go.
Nintendo over the top
Super Mario Run was able to clear the 100 million mark in half the time at 68 days, most likely due to Nintendo and Apple teaming up on marketing the title, its holiday release date window, and nostalgia. Apple featured the game during its iPhone 7 special event in September 2016, and was the first app that users could sign up to be notified when it would be live in the app store. Super Mario Run downloads dropped significantly after launch, while Fortnite and Pokemon Go have had consistently high numbers !
Players clocked in over 2.7 billion hours into Fortnite in May and June with an average of 21.6 minutes for a session. While Pokemon Go only averaged 14.8 minutes. Fortnite has also earned $160 million through in-app purchases since its launch, and is projected to reach half a billion dollars “around April 2019.”
Let’s move on to the question we all ask … when will the game be released on Android? According to Epic Games, the Android version is planned to launch sometime during this summer.
