Donovan ‘TekKz’ Hunt, 17, is the first ever ePremier League champion after defeating Kyle ‘KyleLeese_’ Leese 6-2 in the grand final. TekKz, who represented Liverpool, the team he has supported all his life, entered the tournament as the clear favorite, coming in as the highest ranked Xbox One player in the world.
Tekkz found himself in a lot of trouble in the first leg as SCP Diogo went into half-time with a 2-0 lead and it took three late goals from Tekkz, including an extra-time winner from Everton player Dominic Calvert-Lewin, to secure victory.
Earlier in the tournament, Tekkz said he’d allow “anyone but United” to win the tournament and he personally ensured that was the case. Tekkz eliminated Man Utd’s Xbox player Josh ‘Jonesy17FIFA’ Jones in the Xbox semi-final before defeating United’s PlayStation representative Kyle Leese in the grand final.
The World Cup: next goal
However, despite being the only FIFA 19 player with a 100% tournament qualification record this season, you might argue that Tekkz still needs to win the biggest tournament of them all to be crowned as the GOAT – the FIFA eWorld Cup.
After bursting onto the FIFA scene with a victory in a FUT Champions event in Barcelona, the FIFA eWorld Cup eluded Tekkz last year. In fact, after being knocked out of consecutive tournaments in Manchester and Amsterdam, he didn’t even manage to qualify. So, what is this turnaround in form due to? Has he improved or does FIFA 19 suit his skills?
While Tekkz’s all-round game has got better, he believes that he was unfortunate to miss out on the eWorld Cup last year, but he is determined to take his chances this year. Keep pushing mate!
